2.1 Using Machine Translation

After installing the GT4T software from the official website and opening it, you will see the basic functions of GT4T on the following page.First, we need to set the language pair according to our needs. It is recommended to check “Automatically detect source language” and “Automatically switch language pair” to achieve bilingual translation and avoid the hassle of switching back and forth.

GT4T translation software supports 379 languages. If you find switching back and forth inconvenient, you can save all settings as a configuration and use the keyboard shortcut Win + Ctrl + Alt + F1 to switch configurations.

In addition to setting the language, we can also set the industry and translation engine before use. Especially for professional translators, switching industries can improve the accuracy of the translation. Moreover, GT4T operates based on 29 automatic search engines, covering most mainstream translation engines both domestically and internationally, including well-known services like Google Translate, Deepl, and Xiao Niu Translation. Users can select their preferred engine before translation.

Users can select the original text in any window and press the shortcut Ctrl + J to translate. If users are not satisfied with the translation results from the chosen engine, they can use the shortcut Win + Ctrl + J to bring up results from other translation engines and choose the most suitable one. As shown in the image, users can also select the engine in the translation box, change the translation results, and click on the target language to switch languages. Thus, one of the key features of GT4T is its ability to present multiple translation results from various engines, making it easy for users to compare and choose.

2.2 Dictionary Lookup

You can add dictionaries that you frequently use and trust within the software.

By selecting a word or phrase in any application, pressing the Ctrl key and then the D key, you can query multiple online dictionaries simultaneously. You can change the dictionary using the left and right arrow keys, and select the translation using the up and down arrow keys, or by clicking with the mouse and pressing the Enter key to insert the translation.

2.3 Using the Simple Glossary

Users can create or edit glossaries on the simple glossary page. On the edit glossary page, you can update the glossary by typing or pasting, and you can also import a glossary when creating a new one.Regardless of which way you update the glossary, be sure to apply the updated glossary by selecting “Pre-translate” or “Automatic Processing” under “Use Glossary to Fix Automatic Translations” to invoke the new glossary.

In addition to uniformly adding glossaries on the glossary page, if you encounter a word or usage during translation that you want to add to the glossary for future translations, you can press the Ctrl key and then the D key to bring up the dictionary, then click on the glossary below to add that word to the glossary.

2.4 Batch Translation

GT4T supports translation of files in nearly 20 formats, including common Office files, CAT files such as Trados, subtitle format files, etc., and it can translate text boxes while preserving the original format. Users only need to open the file translator page and add files. Additionally, the software supports batch translation, allowing users to add multiple files, with translations directly overwriting the original text, and the translations can be modified.
