Many teachers ask if there are any other AI tools worth recommending besides ChatGPT. Today, I would like to introduce the newly released multimodal large model — Gemini.
Many teachers likely have the following questions:
-
What are the main differences between Gemini and ChatGPT?What are the use cases for Gemini?
-
How to use Gemini?
In simple terms, Gemini is a multimodal AI model capable of processing text, images, audio, and video, while ChatGPT focuses on generating and understanding text, primarily serving as a conversational AI.
Gemini can be used for integrating multimedia, applications in the creative industry (e.g., generating visual and text content), and educational tools for applications on devices (e.g., augmented reality and AI personal assistants).
Next, I will detail how to use Gemini.
1. First, you need to prepare a Google account.
2. You will need to use a VPN; it is recommended to access via US nodes.
3. Open the Google AI Studio to apply for the API at: https://makersuite.google.com/app/apikey. You can also visit the homepage of Gemini at http://ai.google.dev and click the Get API key in Google AI Studio button. You need to agree to the terms of use to continue.
4. Click on Get API key in the left menu, and then click Create API key in new project on the right.
5. The free API key is now in your hands. This API key can be generated multiple times.
6. Google provides a demo for testing the API; for more details, check the official documentation.
Well, that covers the basic process.
