Recently, a paper titled “Planning-oriented Autonomous Driving” authored by the Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Wuhan University, and SenseTime, stood out from a total of 9155 submissions to win the Best Paper Award at CVPR 2023. This is the first best paper from a Chinese research team at the three major international conferences in computer vision (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV) in nearly a decade.
The field of computer vision is different from other academic fields; researchers primarily publish their academic achievements through conferences rather than journals. Therefore, conference papers are often more important than journal papers in this field. Next, I will introduce the three major conferences in the field of computer vision.
CVPR
CVPR, fully known as the IEEE/CVF Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Conference, is an annual global academic conference co-hosted by the IEEE Computer Society and the Computer Vision Foundation (CVF). The main focus of the conference is on computer vision and pattern recognition technologies, with a fixed theme each year. CVPR 2023 was held from June 18 to 22 in Vancouver, Canada.
According to the ranking of academic journals and conference impacts published by Google Scholar, CVPR ranks first among all academic conferences. This year, CVPR received a total of 9155 submissions, with 2359 papers accepted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 25.8%.
ICCV
ICCV, fully known as the IEEE/CVF International Conference on Computer Vision, is also a globally recognized academic conference co-hosted by IEEE and CVF, held every two years worldwide, usually in odd-numbered years, and is highly regarded in the industry. The best paper awarded (Marr Prize) is considered one of the highest honors in computer vision research, named after David Marr, the founder of computational neuroscience. Unlike CVPR, which is held annually in North America, the ICCV conference takes place in different countries around the world; the 2023 ICCV will be held from October 2 to 6 in Paris, France.
ECCV
ECCV, fully known as the European Conference on Computer Vision, is also a biennial research conference, typically held in even-numbered years. Like other top computer vision conferences, ECCV includes tutorial lectures, technical meetings, and poster sessions. In 2022, ECCV received a total of 5804 submissions, with 1645 papers accepted, resulting in an acceptance rate of 28.3%. The latest ECCV will be held from September 29 to October 4, 2024, in Milan, Italy.
Collection Status
Among the three major conferences mentioned, the proceedings of CVPR and ICCV are published by IEEE, while the proceedings of ECCV are published by Springer. Our library has continuously subscribed to the proceedings of these three major conferences since 1999, and we welcome everyone to check them out.
