Expert System for Fertilization in Farmland

In the Gao furnace village group of Xinshizhen, Leiyang City, the contracted land by Cao Jianming showcases the charm of modern agricultural technology. Even fertilization has adopted a specialized soil testing formula fertilization mobile expert system, which is precise, efficient, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly.

According to reports, this precise fertilization system is called the “Hunan Province Major Crop Soil Testing Formula Fertilization Mobile Expert System”. Developed in 2013 by the Hunan Provincial Agricultural Committee Information Center and the Leiyang Agricultural Bureau, it was promoted in early 2014 in 20 counties with better foundations across the province; currently, Hengyang City is fully promoting its application, which saves farmers more than 50 yuan per mu per season after application. This system makes full use of the vast soil technical data accumulated over many years of soil testing formula fertilization projects; it allows querying of soil nutrient data, fertilization guidance, estimating target crop yield based on soil nutrient status, calculating the optimal fertilization amount and the actual application amount of fertilizers, and designing the best formula fertilizer based on these data to guide farmers and agricultural enterprises in scientific fertilization.

Recently, at the 22nd Natural Science Excellent Academic Paper Selection hosted by the Municipal Science Association, Wang Xiaohui, deputy stationmaster of the Leiyang Agricultural Bureau’s Soil and Fertilizer Station and agronomist, won the first prize with the paper titled “Preliminary Exploration of Mobile Expert System in Precise Fertilization of Early Rice”. One of the winners, Wang Xiaohui, told reporters that this paper was also published in the core journal of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Hunan Agricultural Sciences.

In order to write this paper well, Wang Xiaohui spent more than 6 months conducting experiments, meticulously recording relevant comparative data, and concluded the advantages of the mobile expert system for precise fertilization. He explained that by using the system for precise formula fertilization based on the soil nutrient testing results of early rice, the yield and economic benefits of early rice have improved, while also reducing the amount of chemical fertilizers used, lowering the cost of farming, and changing the previous extensive fertilization habits of farmers. More importantly, it has also played a good role in improving the ecological environment of farmland.

The beneficiary of this technology, Cao Jianming, said that technology is now changing rural areas, providing new channels for connecting rural areas with cities and the world, while technology is also changing agriculture, providing new directions for agriculture to connect with the forefront, intelligence, and ecology.
