Introduction to the Academy

ShanghaiTech University’s School of Information Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as “Information Academy”) is supported by the research platform of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on cutting-edge research areas such as artificial intelligence, chips (including computer architecture, circuits, and devices), virtual reality, big data, quantum communication and computing, cloud computing and edge computing, autonomous driving, electric vehicles, new energy, and intelligent medicine. The academy has seven major research centers: the Visual and Data Intelligence Center, Intelligent Network Center, Post-Moore Devices and Integrated Systems Center, Smart Power and Energy Systems Center, Automation and Robotics Center, Systems and Security Center, and Intelligent Medical Information Research Center.
Today, we continue to introduce the Visual and Data Intelligence Center.
Visual and Data Intelligence Center
The Visual and Data Intelligence Center (VDI Center) is committed to cutting-edge research in machine vision, big data, and artificial intelligence. The center has conducted in-depth research in computer vision, machine learning, computer graphics, computational imaging, natural language processing, game theory, and computational science, producing a large number of top academic achievements. At the same time, there are close collaborations and practical applications in industries such as the Internet, public security, intelligent manufacturing, medical imaging, and media entertainment.

Student Training:
An open and inclusive atmosphere, with a diverse educational cultural background, is a feature of the MIT Lab. The lab mainly focuses on solving key issues in computational science and engineering, data analysis, etc., using mathematics and computer science. We hope to gather multidisciplinary wisdom and the inspiration and passion of students from diverse backgrounds to explore the frontiers of unknown fields. The lab encourages students to actively participate in international academic exchanges and collaborate with well-known academic institutions at home and abroad.
