On April 26, 2023, the China Patent Information Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Information Center”) officially launched the new generation patent machine translation system for the global market, aimed at helping domestic and foreign enterprises and intellectual property service organizations easily solve the challenges of multilingual patent document translation.
To better empower the development of the patent industry with AI technology and allow patent professionals to share the technological benefits, the Information Center has adopted a “technology + domain + platform + scalability” design approach to launch the new generation patent machine translation system for the global market. This system provides convenience for the National Intellectual Property Administration, examiners from various examination centers, and the general public to quickly browse and retrieve foreign patent documents. After years of language training and practical testing, this system has received widespread acclaim from users in terms of the accuracy, professionalism, and convenience of translating foreign patent documents.
New Generation Patent Machine Translation System supports seven languages: Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, German, French, and Russian, with 15 language directions. The system uses a neural network machine translation model, learning patent language features and grammatical rules from hundreds of millions of high-quality parallel patent corpora through deep learning algorithms. The translation results are more accurate and fluent, while also having strong parallel computing capabilities, high adaptive learning rates, and automated data enhancement, allowing for rapid upgrades and iterations.
