2.1 Text Translation

Systran supports translation between 50 languages with a maximum character limit of 5000 characters for the standard version and 10000 characters for the professional version. We can manually select the source and target language types, and Systran can also automatically detect the source language. Input or paste the text into the left text box, and the system will quickly display the corresponding translation, as shown in the image below.

At the bottom of the text translation area, from left to right, are “Voice Recognition”, “Clear Text”, “Play Sound”, and “Copy Text”.

2.2 Document Translation

Systran supports text translation for different file formats, allowing for instant translation of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF documents while preserving the layout, charts, and illustrations completely. If final corrections are needed for perfection, all translated documents are also editable!

It should be noted that after translating a webpage, we can continue browsing the web on Systran. When clicking links to go to another page, Systran can continue to translate automatically. Next to the “Translate” button, we can click to compare the original text and the translation, as shown in the image below, making it even more convenient.

2.4 Industry-Specific Translation
Systran supports translations for various industries (such as finance, law, health, IT, education, manufacturing, etc.), providing translation models for each field.

3. Learning Insights

As an online translation tool, Systran Translate, like other machine translation platforms, has its own advantages and disadvantages. Its strengths include fast translation speed; in addition to basic text and document translation, it also supports powerful website translation; in the professional version, translated document text can be input into a memory bank. However, the quality of the translations provided can be questionable; it does not perform automatic spelling corrections. In summary, machine translation as a tool greatly reduces the workload of translators, but we should not rely too heavily on translation tools. We must also pay attention to the accumulation of terminology databases and translation memory, ultimately achieving the goal of maximizing strengths and minimizing weaknesses, saving time and effort, and improving efficiency.
