Introduction to the Functions of Baidu Translate on PC
1) Translation Text Classification
Click on the “General Field” in the image, and there are four categories in the drop-down list. When translating text, you can perform a preliminary text classification.
2) Switching Translation Languages
(1) Click the icon shown in the image to switch the source language type.
(2) Slide the mouse; multiple languages can be selected.
(3) Tips: You can click the icon shown in the image to convert the language type between source and target languages.
3) Page Settings
(1) Edge-hiding page
Click the icon in the bottom right corner of the Baidu Translate PC client to open the right-side page. The gray icon button indicates close; after clicking the gray button, it turns blue, indicating open. Open the “Edge-hiding” button.
(3) Lock the page (the Baidu Translate software will always be on top and not covered on any page).
(4) Minimize the page: Click the yellow button in the image, and the page will minimize, becoming an icon at the bottom of the screen, no longer occupying desktop space.

With the continuous advancement of modern technology, today’s translation work must handle various electronic file formats. To further understand computer-assisted translation, I studied the “Baidu Translate” software, while also learning the Baidu Translate web version and the Baidu Translate Mac system client. Comparing the two, I was very surprised to find that the web version has more complete functions than the client; the web version can perform document translation, video translation, and human translation, and it can also create a terminology library; in contrast, the client can only perform word, sentence, paragraph, and image translation; however, if translating within a document, the client is a better choice because it allows for simpler and quicker switching between the two programs.
Today, machine translation technology is developing rapidly. Most texts, except for literary texts, can be translated using machines, and the accuracy of fixed phrases and proper nouns is higher. Compared to human translation, machine translation does not have grammatical errors or other low-level mistakes, and the translation speed is fast; however, for literary works with strong emotional colors, machine translation is not suitable.
