1. Appearance Design
Having used many routers, the MT1300’s appearance is refreshingly impressive. Unlike other routers that are bulky and straightforward with numerous antennas, it has its own style. Its compact and exquisite body primarily features a smooth design, and with excellent craftsmanship, it looks somewhat cute and very high-tech. Moreover, its size is particularly small, comparable to an ordinary power bank, making it easier to place in various corners or distribution boxes.
The front features an LED light strip that emits a gradient white light during normal operation, matching the body color very well. The flat antennas on both sides are very eye-catching whether placed horizontally or vertically. This antenna design perfectly combines aesthetics and functionality.
The bottom features anti-slip pads and heat dissipation holes, with relevant parameter descriptions in the middle. When the antennas are opened, both sides of the body also have large heat dissipation holes. One side has a TF card slot for expanding storage space, while the other side has a function button and a reset button, with a layout that is very reasonable, fully ensuring that this small body can achieve greater utility.
The back of the MT1300 features a Gigabit WAN port and two Gigabit LAN ports. Although the number of LAN ports is relatively few, in practical applications, wired scenarios are not very common, and more wireless access does not require so many ports. Instead, it has an additional USB 3.0 port for connecting USB drives or external hard drives, enabling some NAS functionalities, which is evidently more practical for network enthusiasts.
2. Hardware Configuration
The MT1300 is equipped with a MediaTek MT7621A dual-core quad-thread high-speed CPU with a main frequency of up to 880MHz, along with 256MB of RAM, supporting an external 512G TF card, and naturally, dual-band WiFi with 2.4G and 5G and IPv6 are standard features. The 2.4G frequency reaches 400Mbps, and the 5G frequency reaches 867Mbps. Combined with a WiFi signal amplifier, it performs well in signal strength and coverage. Such a configuration is fairly decent in the router field, capable of handling various complex plugins and functions, with quick response times during actual use.
3. Practical Experience
If treated as an ordinary router, the setup is very simple; a few easy steps are enough to connect to the internet. The router management interface is very clear and straightforward, definitely one of the simpler ones among router products. It supports common features such as wired connections, wireless repeaters, USB modem connections, and hotspot sharing, making it a multifunctional ordinary router with enhanced signal.
With a little research, we can discover more secrets within its OpenWrt system, which has thousands of built-in plugins, such as common ad removers, virus blockers, and webpage filters. There are also file sharing features that many beginners want to use but don’t know how to configure. However, with it, many steps can be simplified. All features are clearly displayed in the left menu bar, and its software language is designed to be easily understandable, even for beginners.
