The introduction of “Knowledge Graph” from Baidu Encyclopedia states: A knowledge graph is a series of various different graphics that display the development process and structural relationships of knowledge, visualizing knowledge resources and their carriers, and mining, analyzing, constructing, drawing, and displaying knowledge and their interconnections. The knowledge graph achieves the goal of multidisciplinary integration by combining theories and methods from applied mathematics, graphics, information visualization technology, information science, and methods like bibliometric citation analysis and co-occurrence analysis, using visual graphs to vividly showcase the core structure, development history, frontier fields, and overall knowledge architecture of a discipline.
With the rapid development of the Internet, a vast amount of information continuously enters people’s view, leading to underutilization of information and resulting in resource waste. At this point, there is a need to explore new methods to integrate information resources and present knowledge in an orderly and standardized structure to meet user needs. The knowledge graph, consisting of nodes (entities) and edges (relationships between entities), emerged in this context.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a long history of five thousand years, accumulating a vast amount of complex medical knowledge. This knowledge can easily lead to information loss or structural confusion during application and research due to chaotic relationships. The knowledge graph can express the relationships between entities in the most effective and intuitive structure, connecting a large variety of information to create a relationship network, allowing the complex and extensive knowledge of TCM to be displayed simply through nodes (entities) and edges (relationships between entities).
The TCM Knowledge Service System utilizes knowledge graphs to construct knowledge graphs for Chinese patent medicines, famous doctors, and TCM characteristic therapies.
Chinese Patent Medicine Knowledge Graph integrates information on the names, ingredients, manufacturers, and diseases treated by Chinese patent medicines, constructing a knowledge graph that displays inherent patterns for intelligent recommendations and Q&A. By inputting clinical manifestations, gender, and demographics (such as pregnant women, athletes), it recommends relevant medications.
Famous Doctor Knowledge Graph organizes the master-disciple relationships of TCM experts, their academic thoughts, clinical experiences, and representative prescriptions, analyzing the academic development origins of representative schools and displaying the connections between knowledge points.
Traditional TCM Therapy Knowledge Graph organizes traditional therapies with distinct TCM characteristics, revealing the interrelationships among knowledge points in therapy, diseases treated, and related diseases.
