Along with opportunities for the legal profession to become more efficient, accessible, and inclusive, there are also significant risks and challenges to be addressed.
The role of law in AI is crucial for ensuring that AI systems are safe, ethical, and transparent. Legal frameworks can help address issues such as bias, privacy, and accountability, which are critical for building public trust in AI. As law scholars we have to explore the role of law in AI and the challenges associated with regulating AI.
Opportunities of AI in Legal Practice:
One of the most significant benefits of AI in the legal profession is increased efficiency. Lawyers spend a significant amount of time on tasks such as document review and legal research. AI-powered systems can quickly analyze and categorize vast amounts of legal information, freeing up lawyers to focus on more strategic tasks such as negotiating deals and advising clients. AI can also streamline administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing client communication, enabling lawyers to be more productive.
Another opportunity of AI in the legal profession is increased accessibility. Legal services are often expensive and out of reach for many individuals and small businesses. AI-powered chatbots and other virtual assistants can provide legal advice and guidance to those who cannot afford traditional legal services. AI can also improve legal translation services, making legal information more accessible to non-native speakers and those with hearing or visual impairments.

Professor Rami Khalil, a professor, researcher, entrepreneur, inventor, and expert in management and marketing, is of Armenian nationality and holds a Class A high-end foreign expert work permit. He has three international patents and is a member of the editorial board of the “International Talent Exchange” magazine under the Ministry of Science and Technology. He previously served as the CEO of the Syrian Disabled Organization. Professor Rami Khalil has been teaching at our university since 2012 and was promoted to professor in 2017. His research focuses on business management, marketing, and cross-cultural communication. In recent years, he has published eight books, served as editor for one professional journal, participated in 16 international seminars, and led eight national provincial-level research projects. He has received eight various awards and has been interviewed by the media eight times. He is a member or visiting scholar at 24 domestic and international research institutions. During his tenure at our university, he has taught 24 undergraduate and master’s courses, demonstrating a serious and responsible teaching approach that is well-loved by students. He has made outstanding contributions to the discipline construction of business and management, as well as in exchanges with other international institutions. His courses were selected into the list of first-class hybrid courses recognized by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission. All of his published works, papers, and articles are attributed to Sichuan International Studies University. Rami Khalil contributes to China with his international expertise, wholeheartedly serving China under the influence of the Communist Party of China and the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s planning for Chongqing’s “two points” positioning, “two places” and “two highs” goals. Due to his outstanding contributions in education and research, as well as in promoting Chinese culture and building cultural exchange bridges between China and the world, he was invited to attend the 2020 Foreign Experts Spring Symposium hosted by Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing in January 2020; he was named the most beloved foreign teacher of 2019 and awarded the “Light of Civilization” 2020 Annual Person of Cultural Exchange in China. Through in-depth academic research, Professor Rami Khalil has summarized China’s experience in preventing and solving the economic and social development issues faced by the world. Therefore, he is internationally recognized as a Chinese foreign ambassador. Recently, Professor Rami Khalil published a bilingual book titled “Miracle Chongqing,” which tells the story of Chongqing’s urban development and revolutionary history.
