The popularity of AI painting has surged recently, with many sharing platforms flooded with comments like, “Please share the spell!” However, most users are left wondering, “Why does the same spell produce such poor results in my hands? Is it because my Avada Kedavra skills are not flashy enough?”
“Difficult to obtain a spell” and “Unable to cast accurately” are the two main pain points of the current Midjourney software for painting! But just a few days ago, Midjourney launched the describe command, which can reverse-generate painting commands from images, significantly lowering the cost of learning spells and allowing even design novices to easily play with AI drawing!
Next, let’s take a simple work application: “Business Poster” as an example to showcase the magic of this command! Even if you are a design newbie, you can easily create a business poster in just 5 minutes.
Here’s the result image, I’ll lead by example:
Converting Images to Commands: Basic Operations of the Describe Command
The method is simple: open the Midjourney application (for those who don’t know how to install it, please refer to the previous article on our public account, which provides a detailed introduction to installing and getting started with Midjourney).
Type the command “/describe” in the chat bar, and you will get an image upload window (Figure 1). Upload the reference image you have chosen (Figure 2), and it will analyze the content of the image and generate four different prompts (Figure 3).
Next, let’s take a look at the quality of these commands?
I selected commands 3 and 4, compared them after translation, and they not only described the content of the image but also expressed the illustration style, painting style, and the style of the artist being imitated – selecting one command allows you to execute the painting immediately. (I must say, this is much better than the design novice ChatGPT…)
Precise “Training”: Image + Describe Command
Having briefly explained how to operate, we now come to the core strategy for novices in drawing. After reading the following, you will immediately be able to say “Avada Kedavra!” with confidence 👍
Let’s take a practical application of AI drawing: many designers receive requests for commercial posters/illustrations in their work. Using the commands just mentioned can be very efficient.
For example, today, as soon as I got to work, my boss asked me to create a “Lixia” seasonal application flash graphic, and he said he needed it quickly, by the end of the day! Normally, I would have had a few words with him, but this time is different; I plan to use Midjourney to do it…
The first step is to gather materials. There are many images for “Lixia”; I chose a lotus leaf image that both my boss and I were very satisfied with as a reference. Then, following the steps above, I used the describe command to convert the reference image into a command.
Next is selecting the command. Based on the translation above, I chose the fourth command to execute, and immediately AI provided me with four images: leaving me a bit disoriented in the wind…
The AI went a bit off-track, but no worries! Let’s use the image reference method to steer it back on course. Here’s the next cool operation to note!
Drag the reference image into the chat box to upload it, then right-click to copy the image link. Use the command “/image”: “copy image link + space + the command used earlier”, and the AI will use my uploaded image as a reference to generate a new artwork.
The results of the new round of image calibration are out! It’s clear that after accepting the reference image for “training”, the AI produced excellent outputs, each one is an SSR! I selected the one I liked best, added text layout, and completed a business poster in 5 minutes!
If your boss is hard to please, just click the “refresh” icon to generate a few more images.Comparing with our original reference image:It can’t be said to be identical, but it’s certainly unrelated! So you don’t have to worry about copyright issues, nice!👍
Ending Surprise
Boss: Not bad, very efficient! Since that’s the case, before the end of the day, give me a set of 24 solar terms! Remember, it has to be quick!
I: If it were in the past, I would have given you a few harsh words, but now…
So easy!
